as long as ...

'As long as you're not crippled we're good'. He's pretty much right.

Lots of other good things too. It's amazing how difficult it is to sprint even 20 yards when your legs are screaming at you to stop moving. It's even more amazing how something that you use every single day to get everywhere you need to go, can be so freaking weak.

Happy 4th

I'm sitting here listening to fireworks going off outside.

It was a good day. I'm sore in all sorts of places I never knew I could be sore. I'm getting around pretty well. The key seems to be to not sit at my desk for more than an hour without a quick trip around the mezzanine. Stairs are evil. When going down stairs in this condition it becomes very obvious why walking is sometimes described as controlled falling. That's exactly what I'm doing in this case except it's rather well ... out of control.

Sicko is an interesting movie. I think that Michael Moore's presentation of the Canadian healthcare system is slightly rose coloured, but the spirit is also correct. It is indeed shocking that the US is one of the last developed nations without a plan for universal healthcare for its citizens. I was struck by his comment that if so many other nations have found good ways to provide support for new mothers, provide university educations for the masses and provide universal healthcare, why are these systems not right for America. It's an interesting question, and one that I don't really have any answer for.

Yay

OK ... so nothing's perfect right?

The lack of perfection revolves around the fact that about 80% of the way through our little meet and greet, the focus of the mission (for me anyway) turned to regulating my breathing so that I didn't spew chunks all over his kettlebell. He didn't really seem fazed, though I might not have noticed as I was kind of focused on the task at hand. Need to figure out whether it was too much water, or too late a lunch or just what exactly.

On extremely positive notes, I'm extremely happy, totally energized, and sore in a way that I've never been. It probably means that my entire muscular system will seize up tomorrow ... time will tell.

Woohoo!
